Amlan Borgohain breaks 100m national record

Amlan Borgohain, who already is the national record-holders at 200m, now has the national record-holder at 100m as well. The 24-year-old from Assam broke the six-year old national record for 100m (10.26s by Amiya Kumar Mallick) by running 10.25 seconds (wind +1.8, legal) at 87th all-India inter-Railway athletics championships in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.
Borgohain’s previous best (last year) was 10.34s at the National Open in Warangal. That being said, it is not close to the entry standard (10.00s) for next year’s World Championships in Budapest. He is the reigning national champion in both the 100m and 200m. Amlan Borgohain has the 200m national record of 20.52s which he ran in April this year at the Federation Cup.
