The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) has launched the Bodoland Space Education Programme, a groundbreaking programme to nurture scientific curiosity among school students. Under this programme, 15 School Space Labs have already been set up in government schools since mid-2024, equipped with telescopes and modern lab facilities.

The initiative, led by BTR Chief Pramod Boro, partners with ISRO-recognised Space Tutor agencies to provide mentorship and hands-on STEM learning opportunities. By linking children’s natural fascination with space to structured scientific training, the programme seeks to strengthen innovation and inspire future scientists from the region.

The milestone of 15 labs by National Space Day 2025 (August 23) reflects rapid expansion and aligns with the theme “Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan: Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities.” The programme thus connects India’s ancient astronomical heritage with its modern space ambitions, while placing BTR as a role model in grassroots science education.
