Centre Launches Adi Karmyogi programme for nationwide capacity building in tribal scheme implementation

In a significant initiative for improving tribal development outcomes, the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs announced the “Adi Karmyogi” programme today with the goal of enhancing the delivery of tribal welfare schemes through systematic capacity-building and motivation of frontline officials across the country. The announcement came at the close of the “Adi Anveshan” National Conference of tribal welfare organized by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and held at Vanijya Bhavan, New Delhi. The intent of this initiative is to affect systemic change by creating a cadre of dedicated and purpose-driven implementers of tribal welfare schemes in all States and Districts.

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs organized this important two-day national conference and concluded with the launching of this new initiative. The aims of the Adi Karmyogi programme are to address the implementation gap in tribal areas not because of a lack of schemes, but because of a complete lack of motivation of the administrators implementing schemes. The Adi Karmyogi programme was designed to locate and train over 20 lakh field-level stakeholders who were involved in the delivery of tribal welfare.
