Colonel D.S. Raju, the first FRCS in the state and a freedom fighter who worked in the Central Cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru and the personal Physician of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Col. D.S.Raju Polytechnic came into existence in 1981 in the native village of the above illustrious person, Poduru village of West Godavari District with the funds acquired by the Medical Education Society (Regd.) of Kakinada through compensation following the Government’s takeover of the reputed Rangaraya Medical College in Kakinada established by the above society founded by Col.D.S.Raju
