Communities In Assam
In Assam, there are many cultures, including tribes such as Bodo, Karbi, Rabha, Mishing, Dimasa and Deori and language groups like Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Nepali and Odia.
Here are a few communities in Assam that you should learn about:
Tribal Communities:
• Bodo: The Bodo are a considerable community in Assam, with many living in the plains.
• Karbi: The district of Karbi Anglong is home to the Karbi people, who are also known as the Mikirs.
Mishing: Another major tribal community in Assam is called the Mishing or Miri.
• Rabhas: The Rabhas constitute a large community of tribal people in Assam.
• Dimasa: The Dimasa are known as a tribal community who live in the Dima Hasao district.
• Deori: Deori are a tribal people in Assam.
Along with, the Lalung (Tiwa), Sonowal Kachari and Deori belong to the group of Scheduled Tribes as well.
