Background: How International Yoga Day Started

The concept of dedicating a day to Yoga was put forward by India’s Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 27th September 2014. Prime Minister Modi noted the potential of yoga to effect change beyond boundaries, and the UNGA adopted 21st June as the International Day of Yoga on 11th December 2014.

The date of 21st June was chosen as this is the Summer Solstice – the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, which secured connotations of light, awakening and consciousness which are central to the Yogic tradition.

There have been millions of people throughout the world that have acknowledged the importance of Yoga Day as a culmination of personal choices of different Yoga disciplines as a way to live ultimately- as opposed to seeking the aspect of Yoga as purely an exercise regimen.

Theme of International Yoga Day 2025:

The official theme for International Yoga Day 2025 is: “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”

This theme emphasizes the links between human health, and the health of the planet we live on. The current world faces many issues – climate change, a mental health crisis, sedentary lifestyles, to name a few. The message is clear – when humans are not in harmony with nature, they cannot be truly well.

Significance of Yoga in the Contemporary World

In the fast-paced world we live, stress, anxiety and chronic illness is on the rise. Yoga is a natural, holistic treatment to improve not only physical capacity through strength and flexibility, but also mental clarity, emotional balance, and inner peace.

“NPCI Unveils New API for Seamless PAN-Bank Account Validation on Income Tax Portal”

In a major step. designed to provide greater efficiency and precision for tax-related matters in India, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched a new digital service providing real-time PAN and bank account validation through an advanced application programming interface (API). The purpose of the new service was to benefit both taxpayers and government agencies by simplifying crucial financial validations reports generated on the income tax e-filing platform.

What is the New NPCI API Facility?

NPCI, in a recently circulated circular, announced a new API interface that allows for instantaneous validation of an applicant’s Permanent Account Number (PAN), bank account status, and account holder identification, through a direct connection with each of the individual member banks’ Core Banking Systems (CBS) throughout the country.

How It Works

The new API operates as a digitally secure bridge between the government tax platforms and an individual financial institution’s internal systems, facilitating communication and data exchange and improving service efficiency. When a user either validates their PAN or links their bank account on the income tax platform, the interface sends a request to the relevant bank’s CBS in real time to confirm:

• PAN information;

• Account holder name;

• Account status (active/inactive/closed).

This process eliminates the need for manual intervention or offline verification, ensuring speed, accuracy, and security.

Purpose and Scope of the Initiative

NPCI indicated that this new solution is specifically for Government departments, which allows them to confirm customer account details in a more process-controlled way. The circular mentioned: By making the integration a requirement, NPCI is mandating that banks reach a level of standardization and providing the Government of India with a method for verifying financial identities on its digital platforms.

Implementation & Bank Action

NPCI has instructed all member banks to take the actions necessary to implement this API facility as a priority. Additionally, as the services will be provided for Government of India initiatives only, Banks are expected to take action exhibit willingness to integrate it with their CBS systems without delay.

Yoga Sangam 2025: India Prepares for Historic International Day of Yoga Celebration

What used to be seen as an individual route to achieving inner peace has become a strong movement led by the community. Yoga Sangam 2025, an ambitious initiative by the Ministry of Ayush, intends to transform how the country recognizes the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY). This year’s event will represent much more than the ordinary yoga classes in studios and parks across the nation; it will be an unprecedented celebration of health and togetherness as a monumental physical event, going beyond participation on mats.

A National Movement: Over One Lakh Locations

The enormity of Yoga Sangam 2025 is something never seen before. The Ministry announced over 1 lakh locations will participate in India, all at the same time. Corporations, organizations, communities, and schools across the country—from colleges to remote rural villages—are being activated to collectively celebrate yoga.

The national activation is going to be imperative for millions of citizens to reinforce yoga’s status as an ancient practice of wellness, but also as a modern and communal integration in a fast-paced 21st century world.

Unity Through Breath: The Theme of 2025

The theme of Yoga Sangam 2025 is “Unity Through Breath,” emphasizing the power of group breathing and mindful movements, to create a collective consciousness and emotional alignment.

To achieve the aforementioned aims, the Ministry of Ayush hopes to turn each yoga class into a ritual of national unity, whereby, the breath acted as a rhythm, and the intention acted as a bond.

This theme connects with one of yoga’s most essential and ancient ideals, which held pranayama (breath control) as a link between the body, mind, and spirit—not just for individuals but for communities.
