Delimitation Commission of India

The Delimitation Commission of India is a commission formed by the Government of India, following the Delimitation Commission Act. Its main responsibility is to redraw the boundaries of legislative assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies based on the most recent census. Currently, the delimitation of constituencies is based on the 2001 census, as stated in the Delimitation Act of 2002. This Commission operates independently, and its decisions cannot be challenged in court. The orders are presented to the Lok Sabha and the relevant State Legislative Assemblies, but no changes can be made. The next delimitation won’t occur until 2026.
