Gujarat to Support Girls Education with ₹1,250 Crore under Namo Laxmi Scheme

The Gujarat government has unveiled a financial aid package of ₹1,250 crore under the Namo Laxmi Scheme for the academic year 2025-26, which will benefit over 12 lakh girls enrolled in Classes 9 to 12.
What is the Namo Laxmi Scheme?
The Namo Laxmi Scheme is a state-backed program designed to support girls in secondary and higher secondary education. Launched under the leadership of Bhupendra Patel, this scheme aims to ensure that financial difficulties don’t lead to girls dropping out after primary school. It offers structured financial assistance over four years, connecting education with better health, nutrition, and long-term empowerment.
Financial Assistance Structure
Through this scheme, each eligible girl student from Classes 9 to 12 will receive a total of ₹50,000 over four years. For those in Classes 9 and 10, students will get ₹20,000, which includes monthly support and a lump sum after passing the Class 10 board exam. For Classes 11 and 12, the assistance increases to ₹30,000, again combining monthly payments with a completion-based payout after Class 12. This approach encourages students to stay in school and successfully complete their education.
Eligibility Criteria
- Target Group: Girls studying in Classes 9 to 12.
- School Type: Students in Government, Aided, and Private schools recognized by GSHSEB or CBSE.
- Income Limit: Annual family income must not exceed ₹6 lakh.
- Requirement: Regular school attendance is mandatory for the monthly disbursements.
