India’s First Ever Weapon Database to Curb Terror Launches By Centre

India has launched its first-ever “Lost, Looted and Recovered Firearm” database, unveiled by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the Anti-Terror Conference 2025, to strengthen the fight against terrorism and organised crime.
Developed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the centralised digital platform will track stolen, lost and recovered government firearms from across states and security forces, enabling real-time access for law enforcement agencies to trace weapon movement, dismantle criminal networks, and prevent misuse by extremist and insurgent groups.
Key Details:
- Name: Lost, Looted and Recovered Firearm (LLRF) database.
- Purpose: To strengthen the fight against terrorism, organized crime, and extremism by tracking government weapons (from state police & CAPFs) that are lost, looted, stolen, or recovered.
- Launch: By Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the NIA’s Anti-Terror Conference-2025 in December 2025.
- Developer: National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
- Functionality: A centralized digital repository for real-time tracking and information sharing, integrating inputs from all states, UTs, J&K, North-East, and LWE-affected regions.
