About University
Magadh University (MU) was founded by Satyendra Narayan Sinha, an eminent educationist and Bihar’s former education minister, on 1st March 1962. With its sprawling 460-acre campus, 24 PG departments, 44 constituent colleges, 8 faculties and 85 affiliated colleges, it is Bihar’s largest university. Dr Sarvapali Radhakrishnan, India’s former president, laid the university’s foundation. A renowned historian Dr K.K. Dutta was the university’s founding vice-chancellor. It offers numerous undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, doctoral, professional and vocational courses in a variety of fields. The public state university holds the recognition of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
