Mumbai and Kolkata hold the highest cases on women and child trafficking

According to the latest study by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), the highest incidence of children and women being trafficked were observed from the cities of Mumbai and Kolkata. The data on missing children and women was compiled on the directions of the Supreme Court.

NCRB study highlighted that the common causes of trafficking were child labour, forced marriages, domestic help, and sexual exploitation, among others. Mumbai and Kolkata reported the maximum number of trafficking. In the case of missing women, Maharashtra reported the maximum number. Madhya Pradesh reported a maximum number of cases of missing children. Mumbai, Pune, and Thane are considered the most vulnerable.
