National Science Day

Every year on February 28, India celebrates National Science Day, marking the incredible discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’ by Sir C. V. Raman back in 1928. His groundbreaking work even earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930! It was in 1986 that the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) urged the Government of India to officially recognize this date as National Science Day, and thankfully, their request was granted. Since then, this day has been dedicated to honoring science, with a new theme chosen each year for the celebrations.
