One Nation One Ration Card

The “One Nation One Ration Card” (ONORC) Scheme was launched in 2018 by the Department of Food & Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. It is a national Ration Card portability scheme to achieve food security for all including internal migrants within India (migrant workers & their families). The ONORC allows migrant workers /their family members to receive PDS benefits from any Fair Price Shop (FPS) anywhere in the country. This ensures not just the food security of internal migrants/workers but also the inter-state portability of ration cards under the National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA). A Fair Price Shop (FPS) is a public ration store licensed under Section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act of 1955. Ration card details and entitlement can be registered and accessed online through any ePoS device in the country. The scheme embodies both inter-State and intra-State (inter-district/intra-district) portability of ration cards.
Assam is now the 36th State to implement the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) scheme. The ONORC scheme has now been successfully implemented in all 36 States/UTs to allow food security to be portable across the country. The government also has a mobile app, called ‘MERA RATION’ for people to obtain the maximum benefit of the ONORC scheme.
