PM Modi Honoured in Ghana with ‘Order of the Star’

In a historic gesture of diplomacy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Ghana’s highest civilian honor, the “Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana,” during his first-ever visit to Ghana. The award was presented by President John Dramani Mahama and was made to recognize PM Modi’s global statesmanship, commitment to South-South cooperation, and role in developing India-Ghana bilateral relations. In response to receiving the award, PM Modi dedicated it to India’s youth, India’s diverse cultural heritage, and the democratical commonalities of both countries.

PM Modi was presented with Ghana’s highest civilian honour on July 3, 2023, as part of his first state visit to Ghana, and the award both celebrates his leadership and strengthens India-Ghana diplomatic engagement, so that further cooperation can take place in sectors such as trade, health care, education, and digital connectivity.
