Himachal Pradesh has launched the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana to improve green cover and provide employment opportunities through community participation.
Introduced by CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the scheme involves Mahila Mandals, Yuvak Mandals, and SHGs in forest restoration on degraded lands.
Complementing this is the Green Adoption Scheme, which brings in corporate players like Ambuja, Adani, and UltraTech for large-scale plantations.
Additionally, Van Mitras were inducted to address staff shortages in the forest department, and the event highlighted the state’s commitment to women empowerment and sustainable forest management.
