SAMARTH campaign

Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Shri Giriraj Singh, launched the ‘Campaign on Promoting Digital Transactions in 50,000 Gram Panchayats’ today in Lucknow, celebrating the Amrit Mahotsav. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, began on February 1, 2023, and will last until August 15, 2023, under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The key thrust of the campaign is to promote Digital Transactions in rural areas, particularly among women.
Aim:
- To increase the adoption of digital payment methods, particularly among women, in 50,000 Gram Panchayats across the country.
- It seeks to empower rural communities by enabling them to participate in the digital economy and access the benefits of digital transactions.
It is part of the larger AmritMahotsav celebrations and is being implemented under the AzadiKaAmritMahotsav, which commemorates 75 years of India’s independence.
