Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran Conferred With France’s Highest Civilian Award

N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Group, has been awarded the Chevalier de la Legion d’honneur, France’s highest civilian award, for his efforts to enhance the trade relations between India and France. Category Colonna, French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, presented the award to Chandrasekaran from the President of France.
At the beginning of this year, Tata Group-owned Air India signed a multi-billion dollar contract with Airbus to purchase 250 aircraft, which consisted of 210 A320 neo aircraft and 40 A350 aircraft. Last year in December, Tata Technologies opened its innovation centre in Toulouse, France to meet the requirements of the global aerospace and defence industry for new-age product engineering and digitalisation.
On the National Order of the Legion of Honour
France’s highest civilian award is the National Order of the Legion of Honour (French: Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur), founded by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802. The National Order of the Legion of Honour is given to French citizen and foreigners for their notable service to France, during military, civil, or cultural service. The Legion of Honour not only is a representation of France’s pride in the nation, but is also a representation of France’s pursuit of excellence. It is given to those who have made a big difference in service of France, and society.
