Vice-President Releases Commemorative Stamp Honouring Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar

Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan released a commemorative postage stamp honouring Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II in New Delhi, highlighting his contributions to temples, irrigation, and Tamil literature, while praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in promoting Tamil culture, recognising unsung Tamil rulers, and preserving India’s cultural heritage as part of Viksit Bharat @2047.

• A commemorative postage stamp was released in honour of Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II.
• The stamp was released by Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan on 14 December 2025.
• The Emperor belonged to the Mutharaiyar dynasty, which ruled parts of Tamil Nadu between the 7th and 9th centuries CE.
• He ruled from Tiruchirappalli for nearly four decades.
• His contributions include temple endowments, irrigation works, and patronage of Tamil literature.
