DA has been raised to 21 percent from 17 percent. The Cabinet also\napproved an increase in dearness relief (DR). About 48 lakh employees, 65 lakh\npensioners and 1.13 crore families will benefit from the hike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/current-affairs-quiz-2019-daily-gk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2020<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hikes in both DA and DR are effective from 1st January,\n2020. The allowance is a cost of living adjustment paid to government\nemployees, public sector employees and pensioners.
