Earlier, the Maharashtra government budget had created a separate account head for the same, which will benefit the local communities using traditional and scientific knowledge for sustainable development. The &nbsp;<strong>Maharashtra State Biodiversity Board (MSBB)<\/strong>&nbsp;will implement the project and will be examined by committees under the chief secretary and the principal secretary (forests).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>\u2018Maharashtra Gene Bank Project\u2019&nbsp;<\/strong>will work on seven areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Marine biodiversity<\/li><li>Local crop\/seed varieties<\/li><li>Indigenous cattle breeds<\/li><li>Freshwater biodiversity<\/li><li>Grassland, scrubland, and animal grazing land biodiversity<\/li><li>Conservation and management plans for areas under forest right<\/li><li>Rejuvenation of forest areas.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maharashtra Cabinet has given its approval for the \u2018Maharashtra Gene Bank\u2019 in order to conserve genetic resources in Maharashtra including marine diversity, seeds of local crops, and animal diversity.
