Kerala govt to launch \u2018Shaili App\u2019 for diagnosing, controlling lifestyle diseases<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe Kerala government is ready to launch an Android app \u2014 \u2018Shaili App\u2019 \u2014 aimed at diagnosing and controlling lifestyle diseases among people in the southern State, Kerala Health Minister Veena George said. The app has been set up as part of the population-based screening project launched by the Health Department under the Nava Kerala Karma plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the health-screening project:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n- The Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers have been tasked with collecting information from persons over the age of 30 in their respective areas about any lifestyle diseases or risk factors they may have.<\/li>
- The app, set up under the e-Health initiative, would help to collect and codify the information quickly.<\/li>
- The app would primarily collect information about diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, lung diseases as well as other lifestyle-related ailments and cancers.<\/li>
- It further said that based on the information collected, the health status of the individuals would be scored and those with a score of above four would be asked to visit the nearest health centre for a check-up for lifestyle diseases.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
NASA climate research scientist wins World Food Prize<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\nNASA climate research scientist, Cynthia Rosenzweig has been awarded World Food Prize. She is an agronomist and climatologist and spent much of her career explaining how global food production must adapt to a changing climate<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was awarded $250,000 prize in recognition of her innovative modeling of the impact of climate change on food production. She is a senior research scientist at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
