Demand of NSCN (IM)?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A \u201cGreater Nagalim\u201d comprising \u201call contiguous Naga-inhabited areas\u201d, along with Nagaland. That included several districts of Assam, Arunachal and Manipur, as also a large tract of Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nagaland Assembly has endorsed the \u2018Greater Nagalim\u2019 demand \u2014 \u201cIntegration of all Naga-inhabited contiguous areas under one administrative umbrella\u201d \u2014 as many as five times: in December 1964, August 1970, September 1994, December 2003 and as recently as on July 27, 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relation between Government and NSCN (IM):-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. The Government of India signed a ceasefire agreement with NSCN (IM) on July 25, 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Territorial Framework Agreement in 2015:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Features:-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2713It does not change the boundary of different States to include the aspiration of Greater Nagalim where Nagas live in different States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2713It provides for an Autonomous Naga territorial Council for Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur for Nagas living here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2713A common cultural body for Nagas across States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2713Specific Institutions for State\u2019s Development Integration and Rehabilitation of Non State Naga Militia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2713Removal of AFSPA wherever Possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Challenges:-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. NSCN (IM) is demanding a Separate Constitution and Flag for Nagas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Tangkul Community (Part of NSCN) will not accept any agreement that excludes areas inhabited by them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. There is a continuing confusion in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh over the ceding of territory for Greater Nagalim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
