The President of\nIndia has nominated former Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, to the Rajya\nSabha. In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 80 of the Constitution of\nIndia, and on the advice of the Prime Minister, the President of India can\nnominate 12 members to the Rajya Sabha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ranjan Gogoi served\nas the 46th Chief Justice of India. His term as Chief Justice was from 3\nOctober 2018 till 17 November 2019. On 9 November 2019, the five judge bench\nheaded by him delivered the verdict in the historical and controversial Ayodhya\ndispute case.
