RBI becomes Net Seller in June 2022 by selling 3.719 billion USD<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Reserve Bank of India has become the net seller of the US currency in June 2022 after selling USD 3.719 billion on a net basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The central bank has purchased USD 18.96 billion from the spot market and sold USD 22.679 billion. In June 2021, RBI was net buyer of the greenback after it purchased USD 18.633 billion on a net basis from the spot market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In\u00a0May 2022,\u00a0the RBI has\u00a0net bought USD 2.001\u00a0billion\u00a0(Purchased USD 10.143 billion and sold USD 8.142 billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RBI lifted restrictions on American Express Banking Corp<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Reserve Bank of India has lifted the business restrictions on American Express Banking Corp and allows to restart onboarding of new domestic customers on its card network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reason: For not complying with a circular issued on storage of payments data in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VVS Laxman appointed as the interim head coach of India for Asia Cup 2022<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Indian scientist Samir V Kamat appointed as DRDO Chairman<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Thursday appointed distinguished scientist, Dr Samir V Kamat, as chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamat, who is Director General, Naval Systems & Materials (NS&M), will succeed G Satheesh Reddy, who has been named as scientific adviser to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, according to a Personnel Ministry order. Reddy was appointed as DRDO chief in August 2018 for two years. He was given two years\u2019 extension in the post in August 2020. Kamat, who is Director General, Naval Systems & Materials, at the DRDO will succeed G Satheesh Reddy who has been named as scientific adviser to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC)<\/strong> has approved the appointment of Kamat as Secretary of the Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman of DRDO from the date of his assumption of charge till he attains the age of 60 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ACC also approved the appointment of Reddy as scientific adviser to the defence minister, the order said. Reddy was appointed as DRDO chief in August 2018 for two years. He was given two years extension in the post in August 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GoI named former CEA K Subramanian as Executive Director for India at IMF<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Former Chief Economic Adviser KV Subramanian was on Thursday appointed as the Executive Director for India at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), an official order said. Subramanian\u2019s term will begin from November and will continue for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier, by curtailing the tenure of eminent economist Surjit S Bhalla as ED (India), IMF up to 31 October, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bhalla was appointed as the Executive Director for India on the board of the IMF in 2019. He succeeded former RBI deputy governor Subir Gokarn, who died in the US on 30 July after a brief illness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subramanian holds an MBA and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in financial economics from University of Chicago Booth School of Business. His PhD was completed under the supervision of former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan.
