Delhi LG announces SAMRIDDHI scheme for property disputes and tax dues:<\/strong> Delhi LG, Vinai Kumar Saxena has announced a one-time property tax amnesty scheme named Strengthening & Augmentation of Municipal Revenue for Infrastructure Development in Delhi (SAMRIDDHI) 2022-23 scheme. Terming it a Diwali gift, lieutenant governor VK Saxena announced an amnesty scheme for residential and commercial property owners in authorised and regularised colonies, urging them to pay only the outstanding principal amount of the last five years and get a waiver on interest, penalty and all previous dues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SAMRIDDHI, an acronym for Strengthening and Augmentation of Municipal Revenue for Infrastructure Development in Delhi, will start on October 26 and end on March 31, 2023, with no further extensions. With this scheme, the NCR people will be able to pay only the principal amount of the current and pending tax of past five years for residential properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The people can also get a waiver on all pending dues, including penalty and interest through this scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is SAMRIDDHI 2022-23?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SAMRIDDHI 2022-23 scheme will allow residential property owners to pay only the current and previous 5 years\u2019 principal property tax. According to an official statement, commercial property owners can pay the principal amount for the last six years and receive a waiver on past pending dues, including penalty and interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tax liability is waived, which means more money in the hands of taxpayers and more revenue for MCD. The new amnesty scheme will further increase the tax base and act as an enabler for MCD to build a proper tax database by being more pragmatic about the enforcement of its long-pending tax dues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tax amnesty programme includes a \u2018One Plus Five\u2019 option for residential properties and a \u2018One Plus Six\u2019 option for non-residential properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
