Terming it a Diwali gift, lieutenant governor VK Saxena announced an amnesty scheme for residential and commercial property owners in authorised and regularised colonies, urging them to pay only the outstanding principal amount of the last five years and get a waiver on interest, penalty and all previous dues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/category\/daily-quiz\/daily-quiz-october-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>October 2022 Current Affairs Quiz<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAMRIDDHI, an acronym for Strengthening and Augmentation of Municipal Revenue for Infrastructure Development in Delhi, will start on October 26 and end on March 31, 2023, with no further extensions. With this scheme, the NCR people will be able to pay only the principal amount of the current and&nbsp;pending tax of past five years for residential properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The people can also get a waiver on all pending dues, including penalty and interest through this scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is SAMRIDDHI 2022-23?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SAMRIDDHI 2022-23 scheme will allow residential property owners to pay only the current and previous 5 years\u2019 principal property tax. According to an official statement, commercial property owners can pay the principal amount for the last six years and receive a waiver on past pending dues, including penalty and interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tax liability is waived, which means more money in the hands of taxpayers and more revenue for MCD. She said that this event is even more special as the President\u2019s Bodyguard is celebrating 250 years of its Raising which is coinciding with \u2018Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav\u2019 being celebrated across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>History of President\u2019s Bodyguard:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The President\u2019s Bodyguard is the oldest regiment in the Indian Army, having been raised as the\u00a0Governor-General\u2019s Bodyguard (later the Viceroy\u2019s Bodyguard) in 1773.\u00a0As the President of India\u2019s own Guard, it has the unique distinction of being the only military unit of the Indian Army that is privileged to carry the President\u2019s Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner.<\/li><li>This distinction was conferred on the\u00a0President\u2019s Bodyguard in 1923\u00a0by the then Viceroy, Lord Reading, on the occasion of the\u00a0Bodyguard completing 150 years of service.\u00a0Each succeeding Viceroy, thereafter, presented the Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to the Bodyguard.<\/li><li>On January 27, 1950,\u00a0the regiment was renamed the President\u2019s Bodyguard. Every President has continued the practice of honouring the regiment. Rather than a coat of arms, as was the practice in the colonial era, the monogram of the President appears on the Banner. Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, presented his Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to the President\u2019s Bodyguard on May 14, 1957.<\/li><li>The President\u2019s Bodyguard, as it is known today, was raised in Banaras (Varanasi) by the then Governor-General,\u00a0Warren Hastings.\u00a0It had an initial strength of 50 cavalry troopers, later augmented by another 50 horsemen. Today, the President\u2019s Bodyguard is a select body of hand-picked men with special physical attributes.
