He was 84. Baruah was born in Jorhat to Assam\u2019s eminent poet Binanda Chandra Baruah, popularly called \u2018Dhwani Kobi\u2019, and Labanya Prava Baruah. An alumnus of\u00a0Santiniketan\u2019s Kala Bhawan,\u00a0Baruah was a versatile artist with his oeuvre ranging from painting, pottery, mask-making and writing poetry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/category\/daily-quiz\/daily-quiz-october-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>October 2022 Current Affairs Quiz<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He studied glazed pottery in Sriniketan after receiving his degree in fine arts, and he also worked for a while at the Garhi Studio in New Delhi. &nbsp;An artist who often experimented with different media, Baruah has left a rich legacy of sketches on cigarette packets and matchboxes which has been displayed at many exhibitions in the state and across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notably:&nbsp;In 2021, the Government of Assam awarded him the &#8216;Assam Sourav&#8217; award.
