This unique means of transit will provide continuous communication between the islands and the metropolis, providing a comparable level of convenience and travel experience as traditional metro systems. This transportation system is particularly beneficial in urban areas like Kochi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/category\/daily-quiz\/daily-quiz-april-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">April 2023 Current Affairs Quiz<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About India\u2019s first Water Metro:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The metro project in Kochi will begin with eight electric hybrid boats developed by Cochin Shipyard Limited.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The project is being funded by the Kerala government and the German company KfW.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The water metro system will include 38 terminals and 78 electric boats.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The first phase of the KWM service will launch from High Court-Vypin and Vyttila-Kakkanad terminals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Boat excursion fares will start at Rs 20, with weekly and monthly passes available for frequent travellers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Kochi One Card can be used for both Kochi Metro Rail and Kochi Water Metro.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Kochi One App allows users to digitally purchase tickets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other Projects in Kerala: Worth over Rs 3,200 crore.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and lay the groundwork for several projects costing more than Rs 3,200 crore.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The rail electrification of the Dindigul-Palani-Palakkad section will be dedicated by PM Modi.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The foundation stone for the redevelopment of Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, and Varkala Sivagiri railway stations will be laid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PM Modi will also lay the foundation for comprehensive development projects in the Thiruvananthapuram area, including Nemon and Kochuveli.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During the event, the sectional speed of the Thiruvananthapuram-Shoranur section would also be enhanced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PM Modi to flag off India\u2019s first Water Metro in Kochi: During his two-day visit to Kerala, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate India\u2019s first-ever water metro that connects 10 islands surrounding Kochi using battery-operated electric hybrid boats.
