Srettha required 375 votes from the country&#8217;s upper and lower houses combined to become prime minister. Pheu Thai, which came second in the election, had initially allied itself with the MFP, alongside six other parties. However, earlier in August, it opted to seek a new partnership without the MFP, whose candidature for prime minister was denied at least twice. Pheu Thai now leads an 11-party alliance that includes two former military adversaries.
