They came into their own in the late 1950s and 1960s under an architectural school of thinking called &#8216;structuralism&#8217; (only loosely, in the end, having anything to do with linguistic structuralism). It also appears quite a bit in what was called mat building. Le Corbusier, on the other hand, used them consciously and some argue that he inher ited their use from his appreciation of classical architecture as shown below in Villa Stein&#8217;s plan by him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Q.
