In a historic event, a 19-foot tall statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar<\/strong>, the principal architect of India\u2019s Constitution, was formally inaugurated in a suburb of Maryland, Washington<\/strong>. Inauguration Ceremony of the Statue<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the inauguration ceremony, the air was filled with enthusiastic chants of \u2018Jai Bhim<\/strong>.\u2019 More than 500 Indian-Americans<\/strong>, including attendees from various parts of the United States, India and other countries, <\/strong>came together to witness this historic moment. An Artist\u2019s Touch<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statue was crafted by the renowned artist and sculptor Ram Sutar,<\/strong> who is known for creating the \u2018Statue of Unity\u2019 of Sardar Patel<\/strong>, located on an island in Gujarat\u2019s Narmada River<\/strong>. This new masterpiece, named the \u201cStatue of Equality<\/strong>,\u201d seeks to address the issue of inequality not just in India but globally, as Ram Kumar, President of the Ambedkar International Center (AIC), emphasized.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Symbol of Unity and Social Justice<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deelip Mhaske<\/strong>, a leader in the Ambedkarite movement in the United States,<\/strong> shared that the \u201cStatue of Equality<\/strong>\u201d symbolizes not only the 1.4 billion Indian but also the 4.5 million Indian Americans.<\/strong> The statue\u2019s unveiling garnered congratulatory messages from Prime Minister Narendra and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, <\/strong>recognizing the efforts of the Ambedkarite movement to promote unity and social justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remembering Dr. B.R. Ambedkar<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar<\/strong>, born on 14th<\/sup> April 1891<\/strong>, played a pivotal role as the chairman of the Constituent Assembly\u2019s Drafting Committee<\/strong>. He is affectionately known as Babasaheb<\/strong> and is recognized as the Architect of the Indian Constitution<\/strong>. He passed away on 6th<\/sup> December 1956<\/strong> and his legacy continues to inspire millions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dhamma Chakra Parivartan Din<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, the date of the statue\u2019s unveiling, October 14,<\/strong> coincides with Dhamma Chakra Parivartan Din<\/strong>, a day celebrated by Ambedkarites to commemorate Dr. Ambedkar\u2019s embrace of Buddhism.
