World Milk Day <\/strong>is a day established by the Food and Agriculture Organization\n(FAO) <\/strong>of the United Nations to\nrecognize theimportance\nof milk <\/strong>as a global\nfood. It has been observed on June 1 each year since 2001. <\/strong>
\nThe day is intended to provide an opportunity to\nbring attention to activities that are connected with the dairy sector.

\nObjective of the day:<\/strong>
\n– To provide information<\/strong> about the need and importance of milk in a human\nbeing’s life.
\n– Various activities are organised on this day\nto raise awareness about milk and milk products.
\n– To celebrate the contribution of milk and\ndairy products in several industries, the economy and people’s lives.
\n– To educate people about the nutrients that are\npresent in the milk like calcium, protein, vitamin B2,\npotassium, iodine, etc.<\/strong>
\n– Several promotional activities about milk and\nits importance are launched by the International Dairy Federation on its\nwebsite online.

\nMilk:<\/strong>
\nMilk contains valuable nutrients <\/strong>and offers a range of health benefits. It is a white liquid <\/strong>produced by the mammary glands of mammals.<\/strong>
\nMilk is not only consumed by growing children\nbut also by the people of all age groups. It is an important part of our daily\ndiet. It has great nourishing value and a rich source of calcium, protein, fat and vitamin\nC. <\/strong>Mainly we get milk from\ncows, buffaloes and from other animals like sheep, goat and camel.

\nMilk day in India:<\/strong>
\nThe World Milk Day event does not follow a\nspecific theme in the world. Different countries, governments, and\nnon-governmental organisations decide their own theme.
\nThe theme for World Milk Day 2019 in India is “Drink Milk: Today &\nEveryday”. <\/strong>
