Gehlot issued the order\non the occasion of<strong>&nbsp;World No Tobacco Day on May 31.<\/strong><br>\n<br>\n<strong>Ban:<\/strong><br>\nThe government had banned the&nbsp;<strong>online or offline sale, storage,\nproduction, distribution, and advertisement of e-cigarettes<\/strong>&nbsp;in the state. The CM said that the ban follows his\nparty&#8217;s manifesto to discourage the youth from addiction.<br>\n<br>\n<strong>Harmful effects of\nE-cigarettes:<\/strong><br>\nE-cigarettes are too new for researchers to have\nfound their adverse impact like<strong>&nbsp;cancer associated with tobacco.<\/strong>&nbsp;Researchers have found that initially many youngsters\nstart smoking e-cigarettes and gradually shift to tobacco cigarettes later in\nlife.&nbsp;<br>\nThus the ban will be an important step to curb\ne-cigarette addiction among youths and will prove effective to discourage them\nfrom consumption.<br>\n<br>\n<strong>Committee to analyze:<\/strong><br>\nThe State government has set up a&nbsp;<strong>committee of experts<\/strong>&nbsp;to look into the&nbsp;<strong>adverse impacts of e-cigarettes<\/strong>&nbsp;and it found that there were indeed many. The committee\nwill do a detailed study on the rising use of e-cigarettes.<br>\n<br>\n<strong>Criticism on the ban:<\/strong><br>\nBut this is a surprise move in a state where the\nsale of tobacco products and cigarettes is allowed. Questions are being raised\nwhether the ban has been done to safeguard interests of the tobacco lobby.\nSmoking tobacco has been found to be more dangerous than an e-cigarette.
