In the latest FIDE rankings<\/strong> released by the world governing body of chess<\/strong>, India has a new number 1<\/strong> chess player \u2013 Arjun Erigaisi<\/strong>. With a standard rating of 2756<\/strong>, Erigaisi is ranked ninth in the world<\/strong>. This is his debut in the top 10<\/strong> of the Open standard list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anand Follows as Second-Ranked Indian<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Following Erigaisi is the five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand<\/strong>, who is the second-ranked Indian<\/strong> on the FIDE list. The 21-year-old Erigaisi<\/strong> collected eight points<\/strong> in the 5th Shengzhen Chess Masters and Bundesliga<\/strong>, which propelled him to the ninth position<\/strong> on the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anand\u2019s Ranking and Rating<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Anand is on the 11th spot<\/strong> in the ratings with a rating of 2751<\/strong>. Anand is followed by the Candidates troika<\/strong> of 18-year-old Praggnanandhaa R<\/strong>, 17-year-old Gukesh D<\/strong>, and Vidit Santosh Gujrathi<\/strong> (29 years old), who will all be in action at the prestigious Candidates tournament<\/strong> later this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pragg, Gukesh, and Vidit\u2019s Rankings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Pragg is 14th<\/strong> in the FIDE charts with a rating of 2747<\/strong>. Gukesh is 16th<\/strong> with a rating of 2743<\/strong>. Vidit is 25th<\/strong> with a rating of 2727 points<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

World No. 1: Magnus Carlsen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The former world champion Magnus Carlsen<\/strong> still tops the charts<\/strong> with a rating of 2830<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Candidates Tournament Favorites<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Following Carlsen are two Americans: Fabiano Caruana<\/strong> (rating of 2803) and Hikaru Nakamura<\/strong> (rating of 2789).
