Charaideo Maidam<\/strong> has been nominated to become North East India\u2019s first UNESCO World Heritage Site<\/strong> in the cultural category. Charaideo Maidam, located in Assam<\/strong>, India, is a site of great historical and cultural importance. These ancient burial mounds were constructed for the Ahom kings and nobles during their reign from the 13th to the 18th century.<\/strong> The mounds, which resemble grassy hillocks, are considered sacred by the Ahom community. Each Maidam marks the resting place of an Ahom ruler or dignitary and is believed to house their remains along with valuable artifacts and treasures.
