This updated scheme, part of the Central Sector component of the Development Programmes initiative, has been allocated a whopping \u20b93,400 crore for the 15th Finance Commission cycle (from 2021-22 to 2025-26), along with an extra \u20b91,000 crore. The mission&#8217;s goals include increasing milk production, enhancing genetic quality, and improving farmers&#8217; incomes, all while ensuring the preservation of India\u2019s native bovine breeds through scientific methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Highlights<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Financial Allocation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Total outlay<\/strong>: \u20b93,400 crore under the 15th Finance Commission cycle (2021-22 to 2025-26).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additional allocation of \u20b91,000 crore for the revised scheme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>New Initiatives Added<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One-time support (35%) for Heifer Rearing Centres<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Setting up 30 housing facilities for 15,000 heifers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3% interest subsidy for High Genetic Merit (HGM) IVF Heifers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Farmers who take out loans from milk unions, banks, or financial institutions for HGM IVF heifers will benefit from this interest subsidy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ongoing Key Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strengthening of Artificial Insemination (AI) Network and semen stations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accelerated breed improvement programme using sex-sorted semen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Implementation of bull production programmes for genetic advancement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skill development and farmer awareness initiatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establishment of Centres of Excellence for livestock breeding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthening of Central Cattle Breeding Farms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Impact of Rashtriya Gokul Mission<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>63.55% increase in milk production over the past 10 years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Per capita milk availability rose from 307 grams\/day (2013-14) to 471 grams\/day (2023-24).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Productivity increased by 26.34% in the last decade.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8.39 crore animals covered under the Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme (NAIP).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5.21 crore farmers benefited through free Artificial Insemination (AI) in 605 districts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>22 IVF labs established under State Livestock Boards (SLBs) and Universities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2541 High Genetic Merit (HGM) calves born through IVF.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Technological Advancements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Development of \u201cGau Chip\u201d &amp; \u201cMahish Chip\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Genomic chips for indigenous bovines developed by NDDB and ICAR-NBAGR.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cGau Sort\u201d \u2013 Indigenously Developed Sex-Sorted Semen Technology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developed by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Livelihood &amp; Economic Impact<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Expected to enhance farmer incomes by increasing milk productivity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8.5 crore farmers engaged in dairy farming will benefit from the scheme.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Systematic scientific interventions in bull production will help preserve indigenous bovine breeds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given the green light to the Revised Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), which is set to give a significant boost to the livestock sector.
