These processors are designed with space applications in mind and represent a major milestone in India\u2019s pursuit of self-reliance in high-performance computing for launch vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Highlights<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vikram 3201<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>India\u2019s first fully indigenous 32-bit microprocessor qualified for space missions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Processes 32-bit data at a time, enabling efficient computations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supports floating-point arithmetic, improving performance in complex calculations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Backward compatible with Vikram 1601, which has been in use since 2009.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fabricated at SCL\u2019s 180nm CMOS semiconductor fab, reinforcing the Make in India initiative.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Successfully validated in space during the PSLV-C60 mission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kalpana 3201<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A 32-bit SPARC V8 RISC microprocessor, based on IEEE 1754 Instruction Set Architecture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compatible with open-source software toolsets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tested with flight software, making it versatile for various space applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Designed for efficiency and high-speed processing, with an emphasis on simple instructions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional Developments<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ISRO and SCL have collaborated to create a Reconfigurable Data Acquisition System and a Multi-Channel Low Drop-out Regulator Integrated Circuit, focusing on the miniaturization of avionics systems.
