This warship is engineered for multi-role combat, excelling in air, surface, and underwater operations. This event marks a crucial step towards India\u2019s self-reliance in warship construction, in line with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Highlights:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2018Tavasya\u2019 launched at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Measures 124.8m in length, 15.2m in width, and 4.5m draught.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speed: Can reach up to 28 knots.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Displacement: Over 3,800 tonnes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Project 1135.6 &amp; Indo-Russian Collaboration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>India and Russia signed a 2016 agreement for four additional stealth frigates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two ships were to be built in Russia, and two at GSL under technology transfer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2018Tavasya\u2019 is the final vessel in this series and the second constructed at GSL.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The first vessel, \u2018Triput\u2019, was launched on July 23, 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strategic Significance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advances India\u2019s self-reliance in defence manufacturing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aligns with Rs 500 billion ($5.85 billion) defence export goal by 2029.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthens India\u2019s shipbuilding ecosystem and naval power.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Indian Navy has launched its second frigate under Project 1135.6, known as \u2018Tavasya\u2019, at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).
