This marks the first pay revision since April 2018 and is being carried out under the Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament Act, aligned with the Cost Inflation Index mentioned in the Income Tax Act of 1961.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Highlights of the Salary Hike<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Revised Salaries for Sitting MPs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The\u00a0monthly salary\u00a0of\u00a0Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs\u00a0has been\u00a0increased from \u20b91 lakh to \u20b91.24 lakh, a\u00a024% hike.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The\u00a0daily allowance\u00a0has been raised\u00a0from \u20b92,000 to \u20b92,500.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Pension Hike for Former MPs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The\u00a0pension for former MPs\u00a0has been\u00a0increased from \u20b925,000 to \u20b931,000 per month.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The\u00a0additional pension for each year of service beyond five years\u00a0has been\u00a0raised from \u20b92,000 to \u20b92,500 per month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Government Justification for the Salary Hike<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, the increase is aligned with the Cost Inflation Index (CII), ensuring that MPs\u2019 pay keeps up with inflation.
