It encourages entrepreneurs to establish CBG plants, helping to cut down on our dependence on fossil fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Goals and Objectives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reduce dependence on crude oil imports: By\u00a0encouraging\u00a0CBG as\u00a0an\u00a0indigenous\u00a0alternative fuel, the scheme\u00a0seeks\u00a0to\u00a0reduce\u00a0the\u00a0nation&#8217;s\u00a0dependence\u00a0on imported fossil fuels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improve farmers&#8217; income and rural employment: The scheme\u00a0supports\u00a0the\u00a0utilization\u00a0of agricultural\u00a0residue\u00a0and other biomass\u00a0waste,\u00a0generating\u00a0revenue\u00a0for\u00a0farmers\u00a0and\u00a0rural employment opportunities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote efficient waste management: The scheme\u00a0seeks\u00a0to\u00a0manage and dispose of municipal solid waste and\u00a0residues\u00a0of\u00a0agriculture effectively through the process of\u00a0converting\u00a0these\u00a0into CBG.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tackle urban air pollution: By promoting CBG as a cleaner fuel, the scheme aims to reduce air pollution, especially from burning biomass and carbon emissions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support India&#8217;s commitments to reduce carbon emissions: The scheme\u00a0seeks\u00a0to\u00a0support\u00a0India&#8217;s\u00a0global\u00a0obligations\u00a0of\u00a0curbing\u00a0carbon emissions\u00a0as\u00a0well\u00a0as mitigate\u00a0climate change.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>How it Works:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The scheme\u00a0invites\u00a0entrepreneurs to\u00a0establish\u00a0CBG production plants\u00a0through\u00a0expressions of interest (EOI)\u00a0by\u00a0interested\u00a0investors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs)\u00a0such\u00a0as\u00a0Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd.\u00a0participate\u00a0in the scheme.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CBG produced under the scheme can be used as an alternative fuel for automotive, industrial, and commercial purposes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CBG is produced from various biomass sources, including agricultural residues, cattle dung, and municipal solid waste.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CBG plants are included under priority sector lending by the Reserve Bank of India to facilitate financing for entrepreneurs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Key Benefits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It helps to lower carbon emissions, improve air quality, and support sustainable waste management. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This also creates new business opportunities, generates income for farmers, and reduces our dependence on imported fossil fuels. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Furthermore, it boosts rural employment and entrepreneurship, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment overall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) scheme, introduced by the Indian government in 2018, is all about boosting the production and use of Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) as a greener fuel option.
