{"id":172079,"date":"2025-05-16T14:24:43","date_gmt":"2025-05-16T08:54:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/?p=172079"},"modified":"2025-05-16T14:24:44","modified_gmt":"2025-05-16T08:54:44","slug":"public-affairs-index-pai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/public-affairs-index-pai\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Affairs Index (PAI)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Published by the Public Affairs Centre, the Public Affairs Index (PAI) uses data to assess governance in Indian states and Union Territories by assigning them ranks using a Composite Index (CI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br><strong>Key Details:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br>Purpose:<br><\/strong>The PAI is designed to measure and calculate how well Indian states and union territories perform and deliver justice in social, economic, and political areas.<br><strong>Methodology:<br><\/strong>\u2022 The ranking of states and union territories is done by using the Composite Index (CI).<br>The assessment measures governance using three broad themes, five sub-themes, and 22 indicators.<br>As an example, the PAI 2020 based its measurement on three pillars, five key themes in governance, and 50 detailed indicators referring to 13 Sustainable Development Goals.<br>\u2022 Changes were made in the approach PAI took in many key areas for the 2022 edition.<br><strong>Focus:<br><\/strong>States are seen as key drivers of change in India, and the index tries to rate their governance based on achieving sustainability goals.<br><strong>Data Source:<br><\/strong>The PAI mostly relies on information taken from Union Government Ministries and Departments.<br><strong>Recent Release:<br><\/strong>The Public Affairs Centre has recently published the most recent Public Affairs Index, called PAI 2022.<br><strong>PAI 2022 Findings:<br><\/strong>Haryana was awarded as the best-governing state among the major states.<br>Sikkim continued to be the leading state in the February recommendations for smaller states.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Published by the Public Affairs Centre, the Public Affairs Index (PAI) uses data to assess governance in Indian states and Union Territories by assigning them ranks using a Composite Index (CI).
