Former Indian President Pratibha Patil <\/strong>has\nbeen conferred the “Orden Mexicana del Aguila\nAzteca” (Order of the Aztec Eagle),<\/strong> the highest\ncivilian award of Mexico given to foreigners, on 1 June 2019.
\nThe Ambassador of\nMexico to India, Melba Pria,<\/strong>conferred the award on Patil, who\ncreated history as this country’s first woman President (2007-2012), at a\nspecial ceremony held in the MCCIA Bhavan, Pune.

\nRecognized for:<\/strong>
\nMexico’s highest distinction for foreigners is\nin recognition of their outstanding\nservices to the Mexican nation or humanity<\/strong>, significant\ncontributions to strengthening the bilateral relations between Mexico and other\ncountries.
\n
\nOther India Awardees:<\/strong>
\nMs. Patil, 85, becomes only the second Indian head of state<\/strong> to get the\naward. Earlier, the late President S.\nRadhakrishna<\/strong> had been conferred this honour.
\nOther Indian recipients in various categories\ninclude Nobel laureate Amartya Sen<\/strong>,\nrenowned artist Satish Gujral,<\/strong> industrialist Raghupati Singhania<\/strong>, Consul-General of Mexico in\nMumbai Rajju Shroff<\/strong> and\nothers.
