The Ahom dynasty reigned over Assam for more than six hundred years. The great glory of the six hundred years of rule of the Ahoms was manifested in Assam’s battles, where the Ahoms fought valiantly and often won. It was a significant time frame architecturally, with many temples, roads, buildings etc constructed as well.
The Ahom kingdom was established by Sukapha, the prince of Mong Mao who, according to local traditions, arrived in Assam after crossing the Patkai range of mountains. The Ahoms continued to rule for nearly six hundred years until the Burmese invasion. The British East India Company later defeated this famous dynasty after the Treaty of Yandabo on 24th February, 1826.
The Ahom kings were called Swargadeo in Assamese. The Ahoms had a total of 41 Swargadeos in Assam, many of whom had a nickname.

Suhungmung (1497\u20131539)<\/td>Dihingia Raja<\/td>Ahom Swargadeo Suhungmung got the title \u2018Dihingia Raja\u2019 because he made the capital of the Ahom kingdom at Bakata in Sivasagar which is situated near Dihing river. <\/td><\/tr>
Suklenmung (1539\u20131552)<\/td>Garhgaya Raja<\/td>Suklenmung was known as \u2018Garhgaya Raja\u2019 because he established his capital at Garhgaon .<\/td><\/tr>
Sukhampha (1552\u20131603)<\/td>Khora Raja<\/td>Sukhampha was very fond of sports. Once, he fell off an elephant causing injury and gave him a limp. This is why he was also known as \u2018Khora Raja\u2019. <\/td><\/tr>
Susenghpha (1603\u20131641)<\/td>Burha Raja<\/td>Ahom Swargadeo Susenghpha ascended the throne at an old age. This is why he was also known as \u2018Burha Raja\u2019 or \u2018Old King\u2019. <\/td><\/tr>
Buddhi Swarganarayan<\/td>Susenghpha was also known as \u2018Buddhi Swarganarayan\u2019 because of his ability to organize, political skills, and wisdom. <\/td><\/tr>
Surampha (1641\u20131644)<\/td>Bhaga Raja<\/td> Surampha was known as \u2018Bhaga Raja\u2019 because of his moral disposition, which was severely lacking.<\/td><\/tr>
Sutingpha (1644\u20131648)<\/td>Noriya Raja<\/td>Sutingpha was known as \u2018Noriya Raja\u2019 or \u2018Sick King\u2019 due to his poor health. <\/td><\/tr>
Kekora Raja<\/td>Swargadeo Sutingpha was known as \u2018Kekora Raja\u2019 or \u2018Crooked King\u2019 because he suffered from the curvature of the spine. <\/td><\/tr>
Sutamla (1648\u20131663)<\/td>Bhagania Raja<\/td>During the reign of Swargadeo Sutamla, Mir Jumla II invaded and occupied his capital Garhgaon. Due to this reason the Ahom king had to retreat to the Namrup area. Because of this flight Sutamla is also known as \u2018Bhagania Raja\u2019 or \u2018Fugitive King\u2019. <\/td><\/tr>

Sudoipha (1677\u20131679)<\/td>Parvatia Raja<\/td>Sudoipha was known as \u2018Parvatia Raja\u2019 owing to the fact that his residence was at \u2018Charaideo Parvat\u2019 (In Assamese, its literal meaning is mountain or hill) <\/td><\/tr>
