{"id":172765,"date":"2025-06-06T13:24:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-06T07:54:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/?p=172765"},"modified":"2025-06-06T13:24:12","modified_gmt":"2025-06-06T07:54:12","slug":"national-tiger-conservation-authority-ntca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/national-tiger-conservation-authority-ntca\/","title":{"rendered":"National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has recently approved the relocation of three tigresses from Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR) to two other state reserves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 The NTCA is a statutory body under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 The NTCA was formed in 2006 under the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key Objectives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To provide legal status to project tiger and its directives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To enhance accountability of the center and the states in managing tiger reserves by providing legal authority for a MoU with states under a federal climate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To provide an oversight mechanism to parliament.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To address the livelihood interests of local inhabitants in the vicinity of tiger reserves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>NTCA Composition:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The minister in charge of MoEFCC (chairman),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The minister of state at MoEFCC (vice-chairman),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Three members of parliament, the secretary (MoEFCC) and other members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key information regarding Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Location:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It lies in the state of Rajasthan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is situated at the junction of the Aravali and Vindhya hill ranges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The flagship species are Panthera Tigris Tigris- Indian or the Bengal tiger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Rivers: The Tiger Reserve is bounded by Chambal River in the south and the Banas River in the north.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Within RTR is Ranthambore Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Terrain: Its terrain alternates from dry deciduous jungle and an open grassy meadow riddled by lakes and rivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Flora: Dry-deciduous forest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has recently approved the relocation of three tigresses from Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR) to two other state reserves.
