July 1, 2025, also known as National Doctor\u2019s Day, is set aside to recognize the contributions of doctor’s and healthcare professionals all across India. It began in 1991, to honour Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, and celebrates the selfless dedication to public health. The theme for 2025 is “Behind the Mask: Who Heals the Healers?” and addresses doctors’ mental health and emotional well-being, and call for society to consider how doctors are cared for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 The theme of this year, “Behind the Mask: Who Heals the Healers?” addresses a thought-provoking message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 The theme highlights the realities of being a medical professional, and encourages both the public and policymakers to take notice of the mental, emotional, and physical health of medical professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Doctors are thought of as people who enjoy helping others regardless of time, yield, stress burnout, emotional fatigue, etc., and so the theme reinforces that they too have to deal with stress and burnout too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 The theme also implores for systems of support, care, counselling\/ mental health supports, and work-life balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 National Doctor’s Day is more than a gesture for promotion, it is a call for awareness and gratitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 It serves to recognize the amazing dedication doctors of every discipline show, and how they commit themselves to working long hours, in high-pressure environments, and even personal sacrifice to protect human life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
