The launch took place from the Second Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) Sriharikota, marking the fifth operational flight of the LVM3 vehicle. This launch underscores India\u2019s increasing self\u2011reliance in placing heavy satellites into the geo\u2011synchronous transfer orbit (GTO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is CMS-03?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>CMS-03 is a multiband communication satellite designed to boost India\u2019s capabilities in secure, high-capacity communications across civilian and strategic sectors. It will enable,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Faster internet and data services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enhanced broadcast coverage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communication support in remote regions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mission Details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The rocket had a lift\u2011off mass of 642\u202ftonnes and a height of 43.5\u202fmetres.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The satellite CMS\u201103 weighed 4,410\u202fkg and was successfully placed into GTO about 16\u202fminutes after liftoff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Flight sequence highlights,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>S200 solid boosters ignited at liftoff and separated at ~131.14\u202fs at altitude ~62.3\u202fkm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>L110 liquid stage ignited at ~106.94\u202fs and separated at ~304.70\u202fs at altitude ~166.9\u202fkm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>C25 cryogenic upper stage ignited at ~307.10\u202fs and burned until ~950.94\u202fs, achieving an inertial velocity of ~10.14\u202fkm\/s.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Satellite separation at ~965.94\u202fs at altitude ~179.8\u202fkm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The target orbit was a GTO with apogee around 29,970\u202fkm and perigee ~170\u202fkm \u2013 slightly lower than standard GTO to accommodate the heavy satellite weight.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a landmark achievement for Indian space ambitions, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on 2 November 2025 launched the communications satellite CMS\u201103, the heaviest such satellite to be launched from Indian soil, aboard the heavy\u2011lift rocket LVM3\u2011M5 (also referred to as GSLV\u2011Mk3).
