The Assam government has launched the Mukhya Mantrir Eti Koli Duti Paat Scheme to provide one-time financial assistance to tea garden workers across the state. The initiative acknowledges the historic contribution of tea workers to the state\u2019s economy and aims to strengthen social security, dignity and inclusive growth across Assam\u2019s tea-growing regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Features &amp; Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Financial Assistance:<\/strong>\u00a0Eligible tea garden workers receive a\u00a0<strong>one-time grant of \u20b95,000<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Target Beneficiaries:<\/strong>\u00a0Over\u00a0<strong>6 lakh workers<\/strong>, including both\u00a0<strong>permanent and casual<\/strong>\u00a0labourers across 836 tea gardens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Total Outlay:<\/strong>\u00a0The state government has earmarked more than\u00a0<strong>\u20b9300 crore<\/strong>\u00a0(specifically \u20b9342 crore in budget sanctions) for this rollout.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Welfare Infrastructure:<\/strong>\u00a0Alongside the cash grant, the government inaugurated\u00a0<strong>mobile cr\u00e8ches<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>mobile toilet services<\/strong>\u00a0to improve sanitation, childcare, and workplace dignity for tea garden workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>One-Time Financial Assistance for Tea Workers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under this initiative, more than Rs. 300 crore will be distributed as a one-time aid of Rs. 5,000 to over six lakh tea garden workers, including both permanent and casual laborers. This support will reach workers across 836 tea gardens in 27 districts and 73 legislative assembly constituencies. The Chief Minister assured that budgetary provisions have been set up to guarantee the scheme is implemented fully and on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Childcare, Health and Workplace Dignity Measures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the event, Sarma also launched mobile creches and mobile toilet services for tea garden areas. These programs aim to enhance childcare, health, dignity, and safety for workers, particularly women. He mentioned that the introduction of Eti Koli Duti Paat fulfilled a significant election promise and showcased the government\u2019s dedication to inclusive development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Two Centuries of Assam\u2019s Tea Industry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflecting on the 200-year history of Assam\u2019s tea industry, the Chief Minister pointed out that while Assam tea is enjoyed all over India and beyond, the hard work of tea workers often goes unrecognized. He stressed that pride in Assam tea should go hand in hand with pride in the workers who keep the industry thriving.
