Narzary. The performance \u2014 viewed as enchanting and unprecedented \u2014 introduced the Bodo folk dance to audiences across the country for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Organised by the Assam government to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Bodo community, the event titled \u2018Bagurumba Dwhou 2026\u2019, featured the participation of more than 10,000 artistes from 81 assembly constituencies across 23 districts of the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>key highlights<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The traditional <strong>Bagurumba dance of Assam<\/strong> was performed at <strong>Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati<\/strong>, in the presence of <strong>Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The performance was part of a <strong>major cultural event showcasing Assam\u2019s heritage and indigenous traditions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Thousands of dancers<\/strong>, mainly from the <strong>Bodo community<\/strong>, participated, presenting the colourful folk dance known for its graceful movements inspired by nature (like butterflies).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The event aimed to <strong>promote indigenous culture, unity, and tourism potential<\/strong> of Assam.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prime Minister Modi appreciated the performers and highlighted the importance of <strong>preserving and promoting regional cultural traditions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The programme demonstrated <strong>Assam\u2019s rich cultural diversity on a national platform<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 1957, Bagurumba reached national attention when it was featured at the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, led by renowned Bodo dancer Ostad Kamini Kr.
