The mission marks a breakthrough in decentralising India\u2019s space ecosystem by extending hands-on space engineering capabilities to a region historically distant from core space infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mission has brought together over 50 students and faculty members from across the Northeast, including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. Mission Director Prof Vikramjit Kakati, also Director of ADBU\u2019s Research and Development Cell, said the university began planning its space programme in 2022 and has since expanded steadily into satellite engineering, mission operations and ground-station management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About LACHIT-1<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>LACHIT-1<\/strong>\u00a0is part of\u00a0<strong>Dhruva Space\u2019s Polar Access-1 (PA-1) programme<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is named after\u00a0<strong>Lachit Borphukan<\/strong>, symbolising courage, resilience and regional pride.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The satellite has been developed using\u00a0<strong>Dhruva Space\u2019s flight-qualified P-DoT platform<\/strong>\u00a0under the\u00a0<strong>ASTRA programme for academia<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It will be deployed using the\u00a0<strong>DSOD-1U separation system<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Assam Don Bosco University is set to launch LACHIT-1, the first satellite developed from Northeast India, aboard ISRO\u2019s PSLV-C62 on January 12.
