SpiceJet’s Chairman and Managing Director Ajay\nSingh<\/strong> was elected to the board of the International Air\nTransport Association (IATA)<\/strong>, less than three months after the\nairline joined the global grouping.
\nFounder and former chairman of the now grounded\nJet Airways Naresh Goyal, who was associated with the IATA for a long time, was\na member on the previous board.

\nThe new board of the global airlines’ grouping\nwould be chaired by\nLufthansa Group<\/strong>Chief\nExecutive Officer Carsten Spohr<\/strong>, who took charge after the\nconclusion of the IATA\nannual general meeting<\/strong> at Seoul, South Korea.<\/strong>
\nSpohr will be the Chairman of the IATA Board of Governors (BoG) <\/strong>for\na one-year term. Other board members include Air Canada President and CEO Calin Rovinescu<\/strong>,\nQantas CEO Alan\nJoyce <\/strong>and Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker.<\/strong>
\nIn March, SpiceJet became the first Indian\nlow-cost carrier to take membership of the IATA, a grouping of around 290\nairlines.
