Nayib Bukele <\/strong>is elected as the new president of El Salvador.<\/strong> The 37\n-year-old former mayor of San Salvador, who won more votes than all other candidates\nin the February\npresidential election<\/strong>, brought an end to a two-party system<\/strong> that\nhas held sway over the country for three decades.
\nHe pledged to cure the Central American country\nthat he described as a “sick child” following years of violence and\nmigration that has strained relations with the United States.

\nAbout\nNayib Bukele:<\/strong>
\nBukele was born on July 24, 1981, in San Salvador. <\/strong>The\nformer mayor of El Salvador\u2019s capital Bukele made his political debut in 2012 <\/strong>as\na small-town mayor with the now-ruling FMLN (Farabundo Marti National\nLiberation Front).  In 2017, Bukele was expelled from FMLN for\n“disrespecting” the rights of women.
\nHis presidency breaks three decades of\nbipartisanship between the conservative Nationalist\nRepublican Alliance (ARENA)<\/strong> and the outgoing Farabundo Marti National Liberation\nFront (FMLN). <\/strong>
